Video verification of goods - what should the seller show?
How to prepare a video call to see the actual lot, warehouse and markings without relying on a pre-made recording.
Video calling is not a guarantee of a safe purchase, but it makes using random photos much more difficult. The greatest value is when the customer himself indicates the elements he wants to see and the seller shows them without interrupting the transmission.
Schedule a live call
Ask for a call from the warehouse, not just a previously prepared video. Set the time, party name and leader. At the beginning of the conversation, ask to see the current date or a previously agreed code.
Archival footage may be useful in assessing the overall appearance, but does not confirm that this exact batch is still available.
- conversation from the warehouse
- fixed batch number or code
- current date
- continuity of transmission
See the whole thing, then the details
First, ask for a broad view of all pallets or packages assigned to the offer. Then randomly select a few places to zoom in on. This reduces the risk of only seeing the best-looking products.
In mixed lots, condition and categories may vary from pallet to pallet, so a single product does not represent the entire shipment.
- number and arrangement of pallets
- batch designations
- randomly indicated packaging
- view of foil, cardboard and security
Check markings without requesting a commercial source
Logistics markings can help link the displayed goods to a specific batch, pallet or declared weight. Data of natural persons must be previously deleted or effectively anonymized - the customer should not receive access to the data of parcel recipients.
The customer receives a sales document from the current seller. Purchase invoices, supplier names, commercial contracts and documents revealing the supply chain may constitute trade secrets and are not normally made available to customers. However, the seller should confirm that the goods were purchased from a legal source.
- batch or pallet number
- weight and number of units
- current seller details
- anonymized recipient data
Ask questions appropriate to the type of product
Ask directly whether the goods have been tested, sorted or repacked and whether specific pallets can be selected. Answers should be consistent with the offer description.
Unsorted uncollected parcels do not have a product manifest. In this category, it is a standard feature of the goods, not a defect or a warning signal. The contents are assessed based on the type of packaging, actual photos, video materials, video verification, weight and visual inspection in the warehouse.
- tested or untested
- sorted or unsorted
- type of packaging and actual materials
- on-site inspection possible
Summarize the conversation in writing
After the conversation, send a short summary: what was shown, what parameters were confirmed and what conditions remain to be determined. Ask the seller for confirmation.
Video verification supports the decision, but does not replace documents, commercial arrangements or assessment of product compliance with market requirements.
- date and participants of the conversation
- confirmed parameters
- open questions
- payment and collection terms
